Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain it's significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. “Stand up for what you believe in,” they said. “Nobody will judge you.” When I was little, I was afraid of many things. My dad was always there to help get through every obstacle; whether it was something enormous or something unpretentious. Being sexually abused has led me to be the total opposite of what my younger self was. I’m not afraid anymore and I don’t need anyone to help me carry on. I’ve lived the past 4 years learning to live with what’s happened and I believe that it’s made me a stronger woman. I also believe that rape is never your fault. That is why I decided to share my story out to my classmates which resulted to the whole school knowing. I remember having people message me on social media saying that they went through something similar and that they always thought nobody would understand. I stood up for sexual abuse in 2015 and ever since I’ve had this feeling in my heart where I knew I made a change. People started talking about sexual abuse and they started realizing that people are victims. Two days after, the students at the school became more comfortable with each other and more open which resulted in a great environment. The school was different, it’s like care and love was in the air. I brought awareness of sexual abuse to the school and it led to them bringing that awareness home.
